Just "wow" - what a day! In the afternoon I seriously thought it was Wednesday already. Bummer.

As the week nears its end and the weekend is already packed with activities I wonder when I will find the time to relax. There is an advantage to the fast pace in life. We grow, we are in constant flux.

My goal for next week is to become even more organized to maximize productivity and really focus on finding a good match for some of my closest candidates.

Whats your goal?

Kids all grown up

Today my little girl turns 19. How time flies. She has grown to be a wonderful young lady and the memories of her childhood years bring tears to my eyes. She has been a joy to raise and never gave me any trouble. I was fotunate enough not to see her fall prey to sex, drugs or alcohol and instead build herself a fabulous start to her own life academically.

Now she studies in NY and has the world at her feet. I pray she makes the best of it.

Networking

The value of networking is multifold. Granted, most of us are in it for some form of gain professionally and ultimately money. But consider this- the human race is a social group, one that thrives on human contact and interpersonal relationships.

So while for some networking events are just another way to make new friends and aconnections- for others it becomes a valuable tool to work on their interpersonal skills, their public speaking skills and a way to overcome anxiety and fear, especially if you are an introvert.

For me, networking events are a myriad of colors coming together in a beautiful painting. I enjoy people so much, hearing their stories, finding out what makes them smile and in how many ways we were already connected without knowing.

Tonights networking event from Linke:Seattle and subgroups (Technology & Womens Grop) was just such an experience. It brought smiles to my face and my life feels richer overall. What a great way to end the day.

Life is really good.

CPA's and Taxes!

Did I mention I love my CPA? Well I do, in a purely professional manner of course! He has once again made my life easy around tax season and I have no worries the IRS and I will both be happy. Thanks Bob!

.NET, C++, C# and other great things

I obviously haven't dedicated myself to a daily blog routine and in the hectic of each day sometimes that does tend to take the backseat.  On the lookout again for .NET and C# developers, a week filled with unexpected surprises both a work and home, makes me feel like I have been running a marathon (except I physically show he reversed signs :) from sitting on a chair all day)

Last weekend was fabulous as I visited my daughter in NYC. What an amazing city it is with so much to offer. Broadway shows are always fantastic and we throroughly enjoyed "Anything Goes" and it's tap dancing entourage.

While I enjoy being at work, I have noticed my brain must have stopped working awhile ago and I caught myself staring at the screen and its content without acknowledging its essence. This migt be due to warm chocolate-blueberry scones right after lunch or simply to an information overload. Tomorrow is a new day....off I go to a Linked:Seattle networking event downtown.

MIT & MITx

My frequency of blog posts leaves something to be desired. I guess I do not 'live' online as so many assume because of my frequent posts on LinkedIn. Fact is, I need to get more organized with regard to the blog and add daily and set aside time to do so.

Those of you who have been following my posts saw an article not to long ago about MIT starting the first free online education program, in competition with University of Phoenix, and the like. Here is a new article talking about the first ever course being launched in March 2012.

Hunting

My quest for C#/Powerbuilder and ASP.NET /SOA Developers among 15 other opportunity continues. Where are they? One must wonder why people do not see the need to return a call-even if they aren't interest. Chances are, I will be their best friend when the day comes that they are looking again- so why not make it easier along the way?

On a personal note, my dogs and I would be very happy with a tad bit of a longer day so we can make it to the dogpark in the evenings.  It never ceases to amaze me that my GSD will willingly plunge into any puddle she see even when there is snow, sleet or rain. yesterday my daughter's dog arrived on a plane from Texas and spent some time with us. It was nice having him around.

Early mornings, fresh at work. Luncheon for Linked:Seattle to host for our technology subgroup today downtown Seattle. Hope for a good turnout.

Bookkeppers and other important professions!

There are days where the true value of some professions become utterly clear to me. Bookkeepers where are you??  I cannot seem to get used to a weekly pay schedule for the life of me. After all my bank does not function the  way my cell phone calendar does- "repeat payment every Friday" but by date and the pay day of each week inevitably presents a different date every month.  And why are all bills due on the 15th? I always thought the first of the month was the problem baby but nooooo!

Look on the bright side today, Nic: You have managed to weed through your bills as part of your 2012 plan and have organized them by due dates. You have set 3 bills to automatic payments in the hopes you calculated right. Progress!

The rest of the planning shall be pursued tomorrow with a clearer mind. Sleep settles in. G'night!

Heard so much about blogging and never figured I had much to say. I think the time has come to share some of the adventures of Nica in the life of recruiting and networking. Not quite sure where it will take me yet but I embrace the journey ahead of me.
